Our CEO Kate Nash OBE is pleased to be taking part in this year's NHS Employers Disability Summit in Leeds on 19 May. The summit will have a significant focus on promoting the value of employee networks as a supportive vehicle to drive organisational change on disability.
Delegates will hear more about the proposed introduction of the mandatory Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES) in March 2018 and the ambition of the NHS and social sector to make real the idea of ‘disability being seen as an asset.
Paul Deemer, Head of Diversity and Inclusion at NHS Employers said: “We are really keen that the voice of disabled staff is heard across the health and social care sector – and we know how important staff support networks are in this regard. Not only do they offer disabled staff a safe place to share and seek support – but they also offer the opportunity to deliver a collective message on behalf of individuals who often lack the confidence to speak out on their own. Networks are a way of empowering the staff voice – and we would encourage as many organisations as possible to support them within their workplaces. They will increase the levels of staff engagement across the board – and will also often make sure that the organisation is alerted to any potential issues or problems before they arise.”
This event is aimed primarily at disabled staff, members of disability staff networks, those with responsibility and interest in advancing workplace disability equality, equality leads, HR managers and operational managers.
