Having a clear line of sight between your network/resource group mission and the business diversity and inclusion strategy is an essential prerequisite for success.   When your network/resource group shares a common goal with the business – to improve the lived experience for its disabled people and be seen as an employer of choice for disabled people – it is so much easier to get things done and achieve success. That doesn’t mean your network mission needs to mirror the business strategy; the network doesn’t have functional responsibility for mainstreaming disability across the organisation or for making sure all parts of the business are disability confident.  In fact, there are very few network/resource group leaders with the delegated responsibility for ensuring all parts of the business are inclusive to all employees or meet all legislative requirements.
