Following our February MZChat on 'Leading from the Edge' we are taking the theme a step forward into our evening reception event where we will ask ourselves: How do you lead a network or resource group with purpose especially with limited time, resource constraints, competing priorities and a day job too!
Book early on this month’s networking event to make sure you get the boost you need for 2019. To kick start the evening we will hear from some fantastic speakers who will offer us some very short inputs before we spend our time debating the questions below.
Joining us is John Turner (pictured above), who has been Chair of the Access Network at Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) for almost ten years during which time it has been rolled out to the combined LBG and HBoS staff and grown from 250 members to c 5000. The network supports colleagues with: mentoring, role modelling, job shadowing and events. John has been partially sighted since birth and enjoys swimming and travel.
John was also one of the editorial board members of the pioneering 2014 publication 'Secrets & Big News' which first encouraged employers to avoid the language of ‘declaration’ and ‘disclosure’ if they really wanted to gather meaningful information to support the careers of disabled colleagues within their organisations.
John and other guests including Kamran Mallick,CEO of Disability Rights UK, will set the scene before we invite you to discuss three topics over drinks and nibbles:
- How do you tap into your higher purpose when the ‘noise of life’ competes with our inner voice?
- What one thing could you do differently to ensure you lead your network / resource group with purpose?
- As you look at the leadership styles of others, what can you learn from as they lead with purpose?
So, whether you are a network / resource group leader, senior champion, ally and / or diversity and inclusion professional book yourself into this evening reception. And don’t worry if you cannot access our face-to-face events. As you know we keep these to a minimum and will be launching two new briefings this month “Nine Top Tips in Disability Leadership” and “Working to purpose: how to align your network / resource group to business objectives” so you can learn in other ways.
