This month sees the forth of our monthly Member Zone Chats (MZChat) led in rotation, by one of the PurpleSpace Ambassadors.
In this Member Zone Chat, Jamie Mills, Essex Police, pictured above, leads our discussion with the question, “How do organisations support people to build inner confidence?”
Why focus on inner confidence?
Networks / resource groups have a strong role to play in how they help their organisation to improve organisation ‘disability confidence’, but as our members know, that will only ever get us so far. As well as confidence at the ‘macro’ level – organisation strategy needs to take account of the process by which individuals build inner confidence and resilience as they navigate often very challenging life experiences.
These hour-long conversations are where we encourage you, as members, to come together to share, discuss and learn from each other – which is at the heart of what we do at PurpleSpace – leading a community of remarkable change-agents building disability confidence from the inside out.
To make this really impactful and powerful we focus the conversation around five questions. If you’ve ever taken part in #AXSChat on Twitter then you’ll be familiar with this approach:
Here are the four questions for this month’s theme:
- Is inner confidence a feeling, a fact or an act?
- What are the key ways we know we are building personal inner confidence?
- What are the biggest issues faced by your own people when it comes to building confidence?
- Does your organisation deliver targeted training to help people bring their authentic selves to work?
So, whether you are a network / resource group leader, senior champion, ally and / or diversity and inclusion professional, make a note in your diary to join the live chat or drop in afterwards to add a comment.
