This month sees the ninth of our monthly Member Zone Chats (MZChat) led in rotation, by one of the PurpleSpace Ambassadors.
In this Member Zone Chat Greg Swaysland of Bouygues, will lead our discussion with the question, “When do we coach, when do we refer and when do we draw a line in the sand?”
Many network / resource group leaders work with a variety of ‘volunteers’ who are supporting the delivery of a high-performing network. And these volunteers will often work on different sites as well as different cities, geographies and time-zones. In addition, network / resource group leaders will sometimes be in conversations with members who need a bit of one-to-one support to secure the workplace adjustments they may need. That often means a network leader has to draw on their coaching skills but it’s important to know when it is appropriate to do so, when you need to refer and when to draw a line in the sand.
These hour-long conversations are where we encourage you, as members, to come together to share, discuss and learn from each other – which is at the heart of what we do at PurpleSpace – leading a community of remarkable change-agents building disability confidence from the inside out.
To make this really impactful and powerful we focus the conversation around the following questions. If you’ve ever taken part in #AXSChat on Twitter then you’ll be familiar with this approach:
Here are the four questions for this month’s theme:
- Where are the key areas where you provide coaching to others?
- What are the pros and cons, and where are the pitfalls?
- What tips would you pass to others who have just taken up the role as a network / resource group leader?
- What one thing would you like to change most about your own coaching style?
So, whether you are a network / resource group leader, senior champion, ally and / or diversity and inclusion professional, make a note in your diary to join the live chat or drop in afterwards to add a comment.
