How do you develop inner confidence over time? What would you have told your past self about the things you have learnt as you navigate other people’s reactions to working with you? How do you help others to ‘become their new selves’ following the onset of disability, mental ill health or an accident or illness?
As we prepare for our April Member Zone Chat 'How do organisations support people to build inner confidence' with PurpleSpace Ambassador Jamie Mills, we bring together 20 members over brunch to discuss: 'How do we become ‘Me’?' generously hosted by our members at Norton Rose Fulbright.
Maria Grazia Zedda, Equality Diversity and Inclusion Manager (Workforce) at HS2 Ltd, will lead an informal discussion with members about the things she has done to build inner confidence and share with us her take on managing her impairment, deafness, at work.
We will also be joined by Rick Williams, CEO of European specialist disability consultant Freeney Williams Ltd. Rick is blind and the combination of being a disabled person and experienced HR professional and senior manager, gives him a unique expertise in the personal and business benefits of building inner disability confidence.
Book early on this month’s networking event. Join us as we debate the things we learn along the way that help us to build confidence and resilience at work. Sometimes, we just take these things for granted. But what are the key skills we learn when we navigate the soft bigotry of low expectation? How do we build our brand as efficient, productive and high-performing business assets? What are the important life-lessons which, if we captured, could help our colleagues at work?
Attendees will also get the chance to meet senior PurpleSpace consultant Sally Ward who will describe some of the materials we have developed at PurpleSpace that help us ‘surface’ the importance of building inner confidence.
Over tea / coffee and brunch we ask ourselves:
- How do we build inner confidence?
- What one life-lesson would we share with others?
- How can networks / resource groups radiate messages about how to build inner confidence and the value in investing in ourselves as we “become me”?
So….. get booking. And don’t worry if you cannot access our face-to-face events. As you know we keep these to a minimum and will be launching a new briefing this month 'Encouraging Openness' about how employers can understand the benefits of encouraging openness.
