The #PurpleLightUp Reference Group brings together PurpleSpace members wishing to leverage the momentum and impact of #PurpleLightUp throughout the year.
Led by PurpleSpace, #PurpleLightUp is the powerful global movement that celebrates and draws attention to the economic contribution of disabled employees around the world, which we hold on 3rd December as a mark of respect to the UN International Day of Persons with Disability.
Each year, thousands of ERGs/ networks, champions, and allies from around the world use this day to:
- showcase the economic contribution of disabled employees;
- celebrate disabled talent;
- demonstrate the return on employer investment into well-resourced, well-led networks, sharing their organisation’s strategic plans for the year ahead or celebrating their successes over the past year;
- challenge the “tired” disability narrative of incapacity and deficit to one of opportunity and human potential.
The #PurpleLightUp Reference Group will not only be an opportunity to hear how other organisations and networks are planning to celebrate the 3rd December impactfully but will also explore how the momentum and impact that #PurpleLightUp creates can be mined throughout the year.
The #PLU Reference Group is chaired by Andy Kneen, VP HR Talent Upstream, Shell, and long-term Ambassador at PurpleSpace. Meetings are held by Zoom webinar and are open to all PurpleSpace members. They take place quarterly as follows:

•17 June at 14:00 – 15:00 BST
•29 September at 14:00 – 15:00 BST
•25 November at 14:00 – 15:00 GMT
