FutureMaker Programme 2026/27

Terms and conditions of participation

These terms set out how participation in the FutureMaker Programme works. By applying, nominating, or taking part, members and participants agree to the terms below. If anything is unclear, please contact us using the details at the end of this page.

1. Membership requirement

  • FutureMakers is a member-only programme. Participants must hold an active PurpleSpace membership for the full duration of the programme.
  • The programme runs annually from October to October (12 months).

2. Changing employer during the programme

  • We understand that careers move. If a FutureMaker changes employer part-way through the programme, we want to support them to complete it where possible.
  • PurpleSpace cannot guarantee continuation in all circumstances and will assess each case individually.

3. Application and allocation

  • Applications open on 1 June 2026 and close on 30 June 2026.
  • Places are allocated in the order applications are received and approved. Applying early gives the best chance of securing a place.
  • Futurist Members may nominate up to two (2) participants. Where a suitable candidate is based in Africa, an additional (third) nomination may be made.
  • Core Members may apply for one (1) place through a competitive process. Up to 20 Core Member places are available, with 12 prioritised for public-sector and NGO organisations.
  • A nomination is not a guarantee of a place. PurpleSpace reserves the right to decline applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria.

4. Eligibility

  • FutureMakers is designed for aspiring or newly appointed disability ERG/Network leaders, or leaders of ERGs/Networks established within the past 12 months.
  • Both disabled and non-disabled applicants are welcomed.
  • Applicants must be in their role at the point of application and for the duration of the programme.
  • FutureMakers is not designed for experienced leaders with an established track record of leading disability ERGs or Networks.

5. Participant commitments

  • Participants are expected to engage fully with the programme, including scheduled sessions, peer learning, and the Networkology Self-Assessment Tool.
  • Where a participant is consistently unable to engage, PurpleSpace may, after discussion, withdraw their place.
  • Participants are asked to notify PurpleSpace as soon as possible if their circumstances change in a way that may affect their participation.

6. Withdrawal and cancellation

  • If a participant withdraws within the first two months of the programme starting, the nominating organisation may put forward a replacement candidate, subject to that candidate meeting all eligibility criteria and approval by PurpleSpace. Places cannot be transferred after this two-month window has passed.
  • Member organisations may withdraw a participant at any time. However, outside of the two-month replacement window, vacated places cannot be transferred to a different participant from the same organisation within the same cohort year.

7. Data and privacy

  • Participant data is held and processed in accordance with PurpleSpace’s Privacy Policy, available at purplespace.org/privacy-policy.
  • Programme activity, progress, and engagement data may be shared with the nominating member organisation in aggregate form. Individual data will not be shared without the participant’s consent.
  • Case studies or anonymised learning may be drawn from the programme for PurpleSpace communications. Participants will always be asked before any identifiable content is used.

8. Intellectual property

  • All programme materials, frameworks, and tools (including the Networkology Self-Assessment Tool) remain the intellectual property of PurpleSpace.
  • Participants may use materials within their own organisations for the purposes of disability inclusion work. Materials may not be reproduced, shared externally, or used commercially without PurpleSpace’s written permission.

9. Conduct and community

  • FutureMakers is a peer community as much as a programme. Participants are expected to engage respectfully, contribute to a psychologically safe environment, and uphold the values of inclusion that the programme exists to advance.
  • PurpleSpace operates a zero-tolerance approach to harassment, discrimination, and conduct that undermines the safety or wellbeing of others in the programme.
