Introducing new PurpleSpace consultant Sally Ward

My experience in Diversity & Inclusion has been varied; for example, I led on our gender and sexual orientation strategy; I “invented” the Passport that many disability networks and organisations are familiar with; I created an anti-bullying campaign; created three 'Unconscious Bia's training online modules.  But the one thing I am most proud of during this time was being the lead for BT’s seven People Networks.  Amongst other things, I created the current governance structure and election process; grew the BT family of people networks from four to seven; I’ve overseen the networks evolve to cope with less money, fewer opportunities to meet face to face, while making better use of technology.  And all the while celebrating the amazing people who take time out of their busy day jobs as network chairs or committee members.

So, when PurpleSpace CEO Kate Nash OBE asked me to join PurpleSpace as a consultant, I leapt at the opportunity.  Not only – as you all know – is Kate amazing and I’ve always wanted to work with her - but I also love the energy, enthusiasm and passion generated by the PurpleSpace community.

My focus for the next few months will be reviewing the PurpleSpace member resources.  I will be doing a mini-audit – finding out what’s there, where the gaps are, what needs a refresh and putting together a programme of new content to deliver over the next few months.  And of course, promoting all the great material that’s already there.  Please get in touch and let me know if there’s anything you particularly think I should be focusing on.

I’m hoping to connect with as many of you as possible over the coming months either at PurpleSpace events or online.  I’ll be the one grinning from ear to ear, because I’ve got the best job ever!!
