Exploring Effective Structures - Guidance for Disability ERG Network Leaders

As an ERG/Network leader, you may be navigating challenges that prompt you to consider the effectiveness of your current ERG/Network structure. Whether due to policy changes, budgetary constraints, or the evolving needs of disability communities, it's vital to assess how your structure serves the interests of all stakeholders
This document aims to enable ERG/Network leaders by providing insights into different ERG/Network structures. By exploring various models, we hope to make it easier for you to foster a community where all colleagues with disabilities can connect, develop their confidence, and thrive.
There is no universally correct structure for an ERG/Network; rather, the key is finding what works best for your members and your organisation.
Through interviews with disability ERG/Network leaders and Inclusion professionals and via dedicated Peer Leadership Roundtables held during April 2025, we have identified three primary ERG/Network structure types:
